SEPTEMBER 4 - LA GRAMITA TO BERMEJO BEACH

"La Tour de Sandbox" coninues.  We ae in the coastal desert of Peru and, with the exception of our short stay in Lima, we will have similar coastline until we tuen inland at Nazca.  It's easy riding, the hills are not ntoo high and the grades not too steep (6% or less for the most part).  Today's plan is easy: go back on the sand / gravel road, turn right on the Pan American Highway, go 125 km, turn right on the sand / gravel roa to the beach and camp.

On the way, a couple of nice looking beaches.  The beach sand dune extends much further inland past the right side of the photo.

Another bay with some shacks.  Don't know whether it is a fishing camp or if the fishermen are there permanently

Otherwise, this is a lot of what we see now.

And this

We've hit the beach.  Laura was there before me and has set up the tent (green one in the centre of the photo).  Too much wind so we move it to behind one of those trees you see.  This beach is very fine, dirty brown sand and it is getting in everything!  We are sheltered after we move the tent, so the infiltration slows down.

Sitting in the plywood shack restaurant, doing bike maintenance and having some after ride growlies.  See the big plan on the wall (left, behind Sven)?  There is a plan for a gazillion lot subdivision.  What 10 meter X 20 meter plot in paradise do you want? BTW, no water supply in camp, so conserve water, and bucket flush the two seatless toilets.

Here's Chris wandering back to his tent way back there.  Note the sand and dirt.  Lots of washing to do in Lima

I go for a nice, short swim to wash up.  The staff do their usual job of a good dinner and we retire about 8 pm.  I actually get a good sleep, not so good for Laura.
